2. Amsterdam 1900
Always wondered how Amsterdam looked in the early 1900s? Visit the exhibition Amsterdam 1900 at the Stadsarchief (City Archive) and decide for yourself. The Stadsarchief exhibits an unique collection of photos from known and unknown photographers. Take a look at the arising of the city and the start of photography. Although the Stadsarchief owns over an impressive 50 kilometers of archives (!) only 300 photos from its collection are being displayed. Definitely worth a visit!

3. Tony’s Store
Who doesn’t love chocolate? Tony Chocolonely has opened a new store in Amsterdam and it’s the place to be for any chocolate lover! 4. National Tulip Day
Every year the kick-off of the tulip season takes place in Amsterdam with an unique event, the National Tulip Day. The famous Dam Square is turned into a huge tulip garden. Wonder around and get a glimpse of spring and don’t forget to pick your own tulips. Especially for this day all visitors can pick their own tulips to take home with them! And no there’s no charge. Enjoy these Dutch flowers for free.

5. Amsterdam Fashion Week
Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Amsterdam is a combination of fashion shows of upcoming talents, designers and commercial labels and brands. There is a broad and various programme meant for the fashion professionals. But there are also activities organized for everyone who is interested in fashion. It is mainly organized on the grounds of the Westergasfabriek.

6. Food Soul Festival
Foodies should save the date for the Food Soul Festival. The Amsterdam Kromhouthal turns into one huge restaurant with food trucks with all different kinds of dishes. There are 18 food trucks with all their own foods and flavours. Enjoy food from all over the world. There also is a wine bar and specially brewed beers.

7. Coffee & Coconuts
In the former Ceintuur Theater you can find Coffee & Coconuts! Come here at any time of the day and it will be completely packed. No wonder because of the nice drinks and food. It’s interior is a combination of an exotic industrial with wooden tables and laid-back beanbags. A perfect place to relax and satisfy any food cravings.

After we got over our NYE hangover, it is time to think about our New Year’s resolutions. Dive into your closet and find those running shoes and join the yearly running party, Vondelparkloop, in the Vondelpark (Amsterdam’s equivalent of New York’s Central Park). On Saturday 14 January, they organize “Light the Night”; a spectacular event with entertainment and lots of lights. On Sunday 15 January, you can join for 1, 2 or 3 rounds through the Vondelpark.

9. Amsterdam Light Festival
