Last days of summer, but that won’t stop us enjoying the sun. You still haven’t got all the best terrace spots from us. So here are the 10 things to do in Amsterdam in September 2015.
1. Exposition 60 Years of Iconic Fashion Photographs
Gallery Vassie, in the heart of Amsterdam, presents ‘60 Years of Iconic Fashion Photographs‘ which is an exposition of 60 years of iconic photographs. It illustrates the incredible journey that fashion photography has taken in the 20th century; from the elegant photo-shoots of the 1930s and ’40s by Norman Parkinson and Lee Miller, through the quirky, ‘hip’ and immediately recognizable images of the 1960s by Brian Duffy and Terence Donovan onto the ’70s and ’80s, were models themselves become as famous as the people photographing them. You can see the changes in locations and also the stories the pictures tell.

2. Exposition Secret Love
After Stockholm, Sweden, the Tropenmuseum now exhibits and presents the exposition ‘Secret Love‘ about the taboo surrounding lesbians, homosexuals, bisexuals and transgenders (LGBT’s) in China. Renowned Chinese artists addresses the issue of taboo, desire and sexuality in their work. Despite the taboo there were a couple of positive changes concerning sexual diversity. You will get an image of China now, where artists contribute to the increasing awareness of the rights for the LGBT’s and the battle against the prejudices. Love has no gender!

3. 50 Food Trucks
50 Food Trucks have arrived in the capital. You will find more than just ice cream and hotdogs. The mobile kitchens of 50 Food Trucks serve organic and innovatory street food. With locally produced ingredients, the foodtrucks are to provide some healthy competition on the food market. Fifty trucks rotate over 24 spots in Amsterdam. What can you eat? Halal noodle soup with duck, rösti balls with walnut mustard sauce, pizza baked in a wood oven and lots more.

4. On The Roof Festival
Want to see the newest films from the world cinema? Listen to conversations between scientists and guest speakers at an unique location? Make sure not to miss the On The Roof Film Festival on the roof of the VU University offering a spectacular view over the city. Can’t speak Dutch? No problem! The whole programme is in English or with English subtitles.
At the beginning of the evening there is an opportunity to have a meal and the menu of the day is inspired by the country of origin of the movie!

Want to enjoy the last days of summer? Head over to Strandzuid at the large pond of the Beatrixpark. It is the place to be for special beers, relaxing, eating some bites and a game of pingpong. You can sit near the water or with your feet in the sand. They serve over 40 beers of national and international breweries. Sit down at the long beer tables and try some different beers. There is also a restaurant with shared dining. Get the summer vibes by sitting under the palm trees.

For the Amsterdam Fashion Night Out, Dutch designers Viktor & Rolf designed a limited edition T Shirt available in the special Vogue Store. So grab it while you can and remember out with the old, in with the new.

The Sunday Market is the monthly Fashion, Art and Design market in Amsterdam. Shop till you drop and get inspired. It is a platform for designers, artists and creatives to show themselves to the audience. At the same time they will get in touch with unique design. You will find interior designs, ceramics, fashion, vintage, jewelry, accessories, illustrations, affordable art, kids design, organic products, nice food and drinks. The Sunday Market is inspired on London markets like Camden, Portobello and Spitalfield.

9. The Harbour Club
A unique location with international allure, a sparkling atmosphere and extraordinary food. A blend of Miami, Barcelona and the Côte d’Azur; an industrial location – an old wine terminal – turned fashionable chic. With a large terrace with a great view over the water, it’s perfect for those Indian summers. Too chilly or rainy to sit outside? No problem.
